Breaking Free

Part of my ongoing Matrescence series, Breaking Free explores the profound transformation of becoming a mother. Incorporating a repurposed Tiffany box, personal artifacts from my son's birth, and layers of paint and imagery, this piece represents the process of reclaiming my identity after a difficult transition into motherhood. Created five years after his birth, it became an opportunity to process trauma, reconnect with myself, and transform painful memories into something meaningful through art.
